Bridget Jones Baby is really too much fun! I never stopped laughing from start to finish, and I was captivated until the awesome happy ending.
I didn’t miss Hugh Grant one bit. Rene Zellweger, Colin Firth and Patrick Dempsey form the perfect love triangle and like I said, their antics are hilarious.
Bridget turns 43 and she is wallowing in her own misery, as her life hasn’t turned out the way she had expected it to. She is broody, and feeling like she’s about to miss the baby boat, she’s not over her ex-lover, Mark Darcy (Colin Firth), who is now married to someone else, and all her friends are having fun without her, as she flatly refuses to join in.
Her job at the TV station is going well until there is a change of management and her new manager is intent on making her life as difficult as possible.
She makes the decision to resurrect her life and goes to a music festival with a colleagues, who has become her best friend and is intent on getting her laid. And, so it comes to pass… Bridget ends up having a one night stand in a yurt with a very dreamy McDreamy, a gorgeous American named Jack (Patrick Dempsey from Grey’s Anatomy). In the morning she has deep regrets, and creeps away before he wakes up.
The next day she runs into Mark Darcy at a baby shower, and finds out that he is getting divorced. The attraction between them is still there and, predictably, they end up in bed together.
Tada! Bridget falls pregnant and has no idea whether the father is Mark or Jack, and the resulting shenanigans, as her friends, co-workers and her straight to the point Gynaecologist (played by Emma Thompson) try to find out who the lucky dad is, make for a highly entertaining movie!
Directed by Sharon Maguire and released by Universal, the movie releases on 16 September and is classified 13L
