A Little Piece of Heaven >>
(Sunday, 14 October 2007) Written by Joy Dembo

Three or four times a year we mange to escape the ratrace and enjoy a week of timesharing in Umhlanga Rocks and iti s there that I have found my little piece of heaven!

Although badly damaged in the recent floods, the Umhlanga Beach Path is like Paradise to me.  I can enjoy a quiet stroll or brisk walk along the path in relative safety and lose myself in a world of sea, sun and fun!

The roar of the waves breaking as they near the shore, the little children playing in the surf, dogs of all shapes and sizes playing on the beaches or walking with their owners on the beach path, the smell of sun tan lotion, the heavenly aroma of food coming from the restaurant or the Life Saver’s Club, the smell of the ocean, the breeze and the sun beating down on this idyllic vacation spot!

And, then there is the mystery of the rocks peeping out of water, the Lighthouse watching over the ocean like a Sentry at its post, the Zulu wares that are being touted along the path, the beautiful shells glistening in the sun and the surfers bobbing up and down in the swells.

Even the hum and chaos of the construction currently in progress on the pier and apartment complexes long the route cant mar this beautiful place for me!

All too soon it is time to come back to Gauteng, but as I sit at my computer working, I close my eyes and let my mind wander to that little piece of heaven!

Roll on December so I can return to Paradise.
