The first Madagascar movie had such a profound effect on me that since I saw it, ALL hyenas are now called Fusa! In fact when my Toy Pom has her summer cut and looks like a hyena, we call her Fusa Face!
And, whilst Madagascar 3 doesn’t feature the Fusa or have anything to do with the island of Madagascar, the rest of the gang are all present and accounted for and in hilarious form. Add some new characters to the equation and the wonder of 3D and you have Madagascar 3 - Europe's Most Wanted!
Alex, (voiced by Ben Stiller), Marty, (voiced by Chris Rock), Gloria (voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith) and Melman (voiced by David Schwimmer) are feeling homesick and desperately want to find their way back to the Central Park Zoo in New York, however the penguins, the chimps and Kind Leon, the Lemur, have flown off to Monte Carlo, leaving the lovable foursome behind in Africa.
The four manage to make their way to Europe and the hunt for the chimps et al begins! Using devious means the rogues have managed to break the bank in a Monte Carlo Casino and when Alex and company literally “drop in” on them, Casino security calls French Animal Control Officer, Chantel DuBois! To say she is the villain in this story is an understatement, and the animals soon become wanted fugitives on the run in a strange country!
They find refuge in a struggling circus, and besides hatching a plan to save the circus, they find a way to get back to the USA!
Vitaly, the tiger, is the top cat in the Circus and although he is a real misery guts, underneath the tough outer exterior, is a gentle pussy cat! Stefano, is an Italian Sea Lion. He is a lovable and very funny character and provides the audience with loads of laughs. And, then there is the beautiful Gia, and exotic Italian Jaguar who captivates Alex’s heart! Kind Leon is equally love struck by a grizzly bear in a pink tutu, who rides a tiny little bicycle.
Alex, Marty, Gloria and Melman soon realise that the circus is literally on “life support”, and with imagination and creativity manage to revive it and play to full houses in front of a cheering London Audience. Unlike Cirque de Soleil, the uniqueness of Circus Zargosa is that it has no human acts at all!
With Chantal hot on their heels, the foursome and their new buddies will keep you shrieking with laughter and loving every second of this heart-warming saga.
The movie opens on 15 June and is suitable for young and old alike.
