Ever wondered what it would be like to re-live the same day over and over again...?
What if this exact day also happens the be your birthday, and the day you are destined to die?
In this fast-paced Horror/Comedy from director, Christopher B. Landon, Teresa "Tree" Gelbman (Jessica Rothe) is living through this exact day over, and over, and over again.
The film starts off with selfish college student and popular sorority sister Teresa Gelbman waking up on her Birthday, which is Monday 18th June, hungover in the bed of Carter Davis (Israel Broussard), a nerdy fellow student, after a wild night. The days that follow Teresa, all start in exactly the same bed and every night thereafter ends with her imminent death by the same mystery and masked killer that is evidently stalking her.
Once Teresa realizes that she is in a loop of never ending terror and death, it becomes evident that she needs to compile a list of "suspects" containing everyone she knows, in order to figure out who is killing her each day.
After dying in numerous and rather interesting ways, Teresa is forced to take a long hard look at her life and the way in which she treats the people in it. She is forced to change her strategy in order to make amends with the people she cares about, as well as try to intervene and catch her killer before her killer catches her.
Teresa soon realises that she is running out of time when the physical after-effects of each death start to manifest within her body and remain in her body through to the next but exact same day. All in all, the audience is kept in suspense and engaged in a guessing game as to who is the killer - with a cheeky and unexpected climax at the end.
Happy Death Day is releasing in cinemas on October 20th.
