Skyscraper is a new take on the old Towering Inferno and 911 theme. The movie is fast paced, thrilling and exciting, and will keep you on the edge of your seat from start to finish.

The film begins with FBI agent, Will Sawyer, and his team trying to save the children of a man who is holding them hostage inside his house. Just when the FBI believes that they have won the battle, the man ignites an explosion. Will sustains serious injuries and loses a leg as a result thereof.

Fast forward to present day Hong Kong. One of Will’s ex FBI colleagues who was also involved in the explosion, arranges for him to consult with tycoon property magnate, Zhao Long Ji, with regard to the safety systems in his newly built futuristic Skyscaper, the Pearl. It is the highest building in the world and the systems and features are supposedly fool proof.

Will and his family are staying on the 96th floor of the building. Will is very grateful to his colleague for getting him this job, but little does he realise that he is being drawn into an elaborate terrorist plot, involving espionage, extortion and burning down the building. Not only is Will framed for the attack, but learns to his horror, that by a twist of fate, his family is in the building when the fire starts and on the very floor where the flames originated.

On the run, and in a frenzied fight to save his family, the handicapped Will has to perform some of the most unbelievable feats to get to them on time, save the building owner, eliminate the terrorists, and clear his name.

Will is played by Dwayne Johnson, and his wife by Neve Campbell, who both give sterling performances. Supported by an amazing cast, incredible special effects, and a slightly far-fetched story line, this movie is a winner.

Released by Universal Studios, the movie opens on 13 July, at cinemas countrywide, in 2D, 3D and Imax.
